Saint Peter’s Peacocks

Saint Peters Peacocks are located in Jersey City, NJ.  There are many players throughout the history of the program that have influenced positive outcomes. Keydren Clark, Randy Holmes, Wesley Jenkins, and Nick Leon are but a few of the many clutch players from the Jersey city school.  You can add Desi Washington to this prestigious list. Desi notched 1,000 points in three years of play. Mr Crafty registered 4 separate buzzer beaters in the same season. As a result of these events, Saint Peter’s University gained national attention. Desi was featured on espn’s Around the Horn, and College Gameday on March 6th-8th 2014.

Seton Hall Buzzer Beater

The Seton Hall basketball program and its rich history created an open opportunity. Saint Peter’s hadn’t beaten Seton Hall in a contest in 17 seasons. The challenge was ripe for the taking.

Fairfield Buzzer Beater

Fairfield University, also fell prey to Mr. Crafty and his exploits as a prolific scorer. His timeline as follows:

  • Scored 14 points, including 1,000th point against Canisius on Jan. 4, 2014.
  • Posted seven points, including the game-winner at the buzzer to lift Saint Peter’s past Fairfield on Jan. 8, 2014.
  • Registered 16 points, including game-winner with 2.1 seconds left against Fairfield on Feb. 25, 2014.
  • Recorded 14 points, including the game-winner with 1.4 seconds left in overtime against Fairfield on Mar. 6, 2014.
  • Featured on ESPN Sports Center twice along with Around The Horn and College Game Day from Mar. 6-8, 2014

The scoring is not new, but we cannot ignore the high level competitive spirit, focus, and patience it takes to make 4 buzzer beaters in one season. Click above to hear Desi Washington’s story.
