Justin Robinson, Monmouth University’s all-time leading scorer, has been playing extremely well for his new professional team, Elan Chalon, in France. In 2017-18 season he played for Avtodar, in Russia. He did have a solid season but, this year he is on a tear with many breakout performances at the PRO A level which is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe. I was able to catch up with Justin and ask a few questions about his new team.
I was able to catch up with Justin and ask a few questions about his time in France.
Q: Since you have arrived to Elan Chalon in France , what new experiences can share with us?
Justin: France is really cool, seeing monuments and being places that I’ve only seen on the internet or in text books is a life changing experience.
Q: What do you like most about living in France?
Justin: The people! Every person I have encountered is really nice.
Q: You recently had a great game with 24 points and 8 assists. What are your individual and team goals this year?
Justin: This year my main goal is to grow as a leader, and take this team as deep into the postseason as possible.
Q: what message can you send to our young college athletes aspiring to be professional “overseas” ?
A: Young athletes aspiring to play professionally overseas should learn the history about where they want to play, laws, and of course reputation of the organization they’re considering playing for should they get the option. Hiring your player representative (agent) is a major part of it, and shouldn’t be chosen lightly. Your agent is the one responsible for your situation, your contract, and pretty much everything aside from what you do on the court. You need to have a good relationship with him or her.
Q: What is your favorite french dish?
Justin: My favorite French food is definitely crepes, I found a spot where they make crazy combinations and are served by very nice people!
