Matthew Breen was born on August 10, 2007, in Connecticut and grew up in Scarsdale, New York. During his early years, he developed a passion for the performing arts, actively participating in theater from first through seventh grade. However, his athletic journey took a significant turn when he discovered his love for basketball in eighth grade.
In 2017, Matt and his family moved to Spring Lake, New Jersey, a pivotal moment that set the stage for his basketball career to flourish.
St. Rose High School: Matthew’s Basketball Journey Begans
Matthew’s basketball journey truly began at St. Rose High School in Belmar, New Jersey. As a member of the Purple Roses basketball team, Matt quickly established himself as a talented player with immense potential.
Standing at 6’4″ and playing as a center, Matthew has become an integral part of the St. Rose basketball program. His contributions in practice are significant, as he brings a strong voice and a willingness to learn and develop.
Matthew Breen’s academic performance is equally impressive, maintaining a remarkable GPA of 100.79%. His lowest grade is 91% in Honors Precalculus, while all his other grades are above 96%. His favorite class is entrepreneurship and marketing, showcasing his well-rounded interests beyond the basketball court.
As the vice president of the class of 2025, Matthew is deeply invested in his school community. He values the friendships he has made at St. Rose and looks forward to the future opportunities that lie ahead.

Matthew’s favorite NBA player is Jayson Tatum, whom he admires for his shooting, finishing skills, and ability to create opportunities for teammates. This admiration motivates Matt to elevate his own game and strive for excellence.
