Novak Djokovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1987. He started playing tennis at the age of four and quickly rose through the junior ranks. He won the 2005 Australian Open boys’ singles title and the 2006 US Open boys’ singles title.  Djokovic attended the Novak Djokovic Tennis Academy in Belgrade. He also attended the University of Belgrade, where he studied business administration.

Professional

Djokovic turned professional in 2003. He has won 21 Grand Slam singles titles, the most of any active player. He has also won 38 ATP Masters 1000 titles, the second most of all time. Djokovic is ranked world No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).  Djokovics’ first title came in 2008 at the Australian open.  Currently,  in 2023 he is ranked 2nd by the ATP and is working to secure his 24th Open title.

Djokovic holds the record for most weeks at world No. 1 in the ATP rankings, with 373 weeks. He is also the only player to win all four Grand Slams twice in the Open Era.  Novak holds the all time record for open titles with 23 as of 2023. As the joker continues his professional career, he has reached 33 open finals, including the U.S Open final of 2023.  “The Joker” is the only player to win all four Grand Slams twice in the Open Era.

Current Status 2023 U.S. Open

Djokovic is the defending champion of the US Open. He is also the two-time defending champion of the Australian Open and the Wimbledon Championships. Djokovic is considered to be one of the favorites to win the US Open in 2023. Novak Djokovic is known for his all-court style of play and his ability to adapt to different surfaces. He is also known for his mental toughness and his ability to come back from behind in matches.

Djokovic is a global ambassador for the sport of tennis and has been praised for his work ethic and dedication. He is also a philanthropist and has donated money to various charities.

In 2023, Djokovic is still going strong. He won the Australian Open in January, his 10th title at the tournament and his 21st Grand Slam singles title overall. He is also the defending champion at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Djokovic is looking to add to his Grand Slam tally in 2023 and cement his place as the greatest tennis player of all time. He is a true champion and an inspiration to many.

24th Grand Slam Kobe Bryant

Novak Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam singles title at the 2023 US Open, tying Rafael Nadal for the most in men’s tennis history. Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in straight sets in the final, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

After the match, Djokovic dedicated his victory to Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in 2020. Djokovic wore a shirt with Bryant’s initials and jersey number, 24, during the tournament.

I want to dedicate this to Kobe Bryant,” Djokovic said. “I know he was a big fan of tennis and he was a great inspiration to me. I hope he’s looking down on us and he’s proud.”

Djokovic’s victory was his third US Open title and his first since 2018. It also moved him one step closer to tying Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles.

Djokovic is now the oldest man to win the US Open since Ken Rosewall in 1970. He is also the first player to win all four Grand Slams twice in the Open Era.

Djokovic’s victory is a testament to his incredible determination and resilience. He has overcome numerous injuries and setbacks throughout his career, but he has always found a way to come back stronger. He is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and his 24th Grand Slam title is a fitting accomplishment for his career.
