West Catholic Burrs (Philadelphia)

vs. St. Rose (Belmar, NJ)

St. Rose, the number 1 team in the NJ.com Top-20 rankings, competed against the West Catholic Burrs from Philadelphia. The initial matchup did not disappoint as both teams showed a level of discipline on both ends of the floor.  This game was held at Jefferson University.

West Catholic

The Burrs are a year removed from the first state title in program history and are hoping last season was simply a down one. Senior guard Saaid Lee is the most experienced part of the Burrs’ roster, but it’s the youth that has Miguel Bocachica excited. The diamond in the rough is 2026 6-7 forward Kingston Wheatley, who is a ferocious rebounder and finishes through contact. Wheatley is the player to watch in the middle. A young group of 2027 guards in Jayvon Byrd (5-10), Xavier Fauntroy (6-2), Myles Moore (6-3), and Rahmir Speaks (6-2) provides a glimpse into the future of the West Catholic program. (Source)

But, the discipline on defense and detail in the offensive sets by St Rose was enough to secure the win.  The Roses spread the floor and made free throws down the stretch. Several guards contributed to this team win. Brian Ebeling, a combo 1-2, received a ton of defensive pressure but was able to keep his head and facilitate the coaches direction. Evan Romano finished with 0 turnovers and hit a couple big threes down the stretch to firm up the lead. 2026 guards Tyler Cameron, Avery Lynch, and Orien Campbell contributed on both ends.  2028 guards, Isaiah Cooper and Oymere Reen were also sparks off the bench.

St. Rose vs. Imhotep Charter

Andre Noble’s program now a national brand and one of the centerpieces of the city’s hoops scene, playing an ultra-aggressive yet ultra-refined brand of basketball. A pair of 2026 wings, Zaahir Muhammad-Gray (6-6) and Latief Lorenzano-White (6-4) and their point guard classmate RJ Smith (5-8) are all future D-I talents, though 2027 wing forward Zion Green (6-8) might have the highest ceiling of them all.  (Source)
