Who Is Michah Davenport?

One of Harrisburg cougar’s finest, Michah, a part of the 1998 PIAA 4A District and State Title team. From player to coach and still gives back to his community.

Michah Davenport: High School

Who is Michah Davenport? He’s a graduate of Harrisbrug High School in Harrisburg,PA.  Michah helped lead his team to a district championship in 1996. The stretch 4-man then led his team to a district and first ever state title in 1998.

Michah Davenport: College

College, Michah attended Sante Fe Community College for one year 1998-99. For that year he led the conference in FG percentage of 69%. After that Michah transfered to Dundalk community college 1999-00 in Baltimore. Michah averaged 19 ppg and 14 rpg, leading his team to regional and national championships in the national Juco conference.Michah earned first team all juco.  He also set the tournament record for 28 rebounds in one game.  For two years he sat and didn’t go to school or play. But continued to workout with others in the Harrisburg and Baltimore areas while planning his future.

Michah Davenport Millersville University

Michah was recruited by Fred Thompson, head coach at Millersville University. In his first year 2002-2003 Michah earned second team all PSAC. In that year, Michah and Millersville won their conference championship.  They then played in the national tournament in the NCAA DII making it all the way to the Elite 8. Michah earned first team regional honors in the tournament.  In Michah’s second year at Millersville he averaged 28 ppg and 12 rpg. The super senior earned first team all PSAC conference honors.  Michah majored in social work and minored in criminal justice but was unable to complete his degree due to raising a family of 5. Michah is currently set to earn his degree after completing his final semester.

Michah Davenport: Professional

Michah then played with the Harrisburg Horizon, a semi pro basketball team that played in the Easter Basketball Alliance.

While Michah did not earn his academic degree that has not stopped him from working in the community and building programs to engage with the youth of the Harrisburg community.

Michah formed Driven from Within AAU in 2009. He also formed a mentorship program fro juvenile detainees.

The Future Is Bright

Driven from Within is a non profit in operating out of the boys and girls club of Harrisburg Pa. The program touts a U16/17 and a U10 boys team. Currently building teams of all ages.

Driven From Within AAU

Currently for 2022, the Driven From Within Fall league will kick off in September. There will be 3 divisions between 3rd and 7th grade.  Life skills classes will be provided at the boys and girls club as well.

Michah, a father of 5, has been coaching junior varsity basketball since 2018 at Harrisburg high school. He was recently named assistant head coach for the boys varsity Harrisburg basketball program.

He spends his time supporting his children in every possible way. Jaden 16, Jamare 15, Sanai 13, Skylar 11, Sheyenne 10.
