The Climb To The Top

Scottie Lewis graduated from Ranney High School in Tinton Falls, NJ in 2019 with major clout. In the beginning of his senior year, he committed to play basketball for the University of Florida. This was a tough decision as he had many prospects.  Is Scottie Lewis a NBA basketball prospect?

He performed for the USA 2016 Junior National Team.  Scottie also played 2018 U19 minicamps, and the 2018 NBPA Top 100 camp. He helped lead Ranney to victory in the Tournament of Champions. Scottie also clinched a the Shore Conference Tournament championship. For his high school career, he recorded 1,874 points, which earned him first team All-State Honors in New Jersey. In 2019, he was a five-star prospect.  Scottie was selected as a McDonald’s High School All-American.  He was also a member of the USA team at the Nike Hoop Summit.

The Future Is Bright

 Scottie came in hot to play at the University of Florida. For his freshman season 2019-20, he became the first guard to lead Florida in blocked shots and averaged 8.5 points a game with a season high of 19 points against Kentucky. This earned him SEC Freshman of the Week and a spot on the 2019-20 SEC All-Freshman Team In his sophomore season, he averaged 7.9 points and matched his season high of 19 points. 

A tenacious player, Scottie decided after his sophomore season that he is declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft and will hire an agent.

Humility

Scottie has gained immense recognition as an outstanding athlete, as well as a thoughtful young man. He spent much of his summer in 2020 organizing marches for social justice. He posted content to his many followers in wake of multiple killings of Black Americans.  Scottie’s laser focus on these issues at a young age is special.

He attended the local Black Lives Matter march in Asbury Park, NJ. Scottie shared photos with the caption of the quote of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Scottie continues to use his platform. Mr. Lewis speaks on social justice issues and influences others to do the same.

2021 Update

Scottie was selected in the second round 56th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Scottie was selected in the 2nd round as the 56th pick. He is currently playing for the Greensboro Swarm. They are the affiliate program to the Charlotte Hornets.  Scottie currently is averaging 7.5 points for the swarm. View his full stats here.
