Who Is Tristan The Warrior Smith?

Mr. Smith is a Hometown Athlete from Amityville who terrified opponents on the court and the field. He is now owner/trainer of The Fit Lab USA facility in Mansfield, Texas.

The Climb To The Top

Tristan played and starred on the Amityville basketball team that was known for their aggressive, and uptempo style of play. Smith started out with the big boys as a freshman averaging 7.7 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals a game. He gradually built himself to be a standout player every year following. Staying fit in the offseason as a two-sport athlete which afforded him a serious edge.

His sophomore year found Tristan increasing his playing time and stats by averaging 11.6 points, 5 assists, and 2.9 steals and this was the beginning of a rising star. While it is never an easy road to becoming a hometown name in any sport. Mr. Smith had a way of making things look easier than they were.

His junior season found him making big waves as he tallied 16 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.4 steals a game. He guided his team to a class B state championship. This solidified his name in the hallways and neighborhood of Amityville. On his way, he collected All-Long Island second team to further his accomplishments.

He would not be outdone by himself come senior year where he averaged 23 points, 7.8 assists, and 4 steals per game. He helped lead his team to another class B state championship.  He collected the Suffolk County Player of the Year award. He would also be selected to the All-Long Island first team as a senior. His basketball accolades didn’t stop there as he collected McDonald’s All-American top 100, All Tri-State Team, and a Federation championship.

However, being the point guard on a team that outpaced and outlasted their opponents meant being in the best possible shape you can be in. This was helped by his ability to play football when the basketball season ended. He also led on the field as the quarterback, utilizing his quickness and strength to will his team to a Suffolk division 3 championship his senior year.

It goes to mention his hard work on the field saw him being honorable mention All- American, and Rutgers cup champion. (The Rutgers Cup is presented by the Rutgers Club of Long Island to the outstanding football team of the year in Nassau. A list of the winners.)

Tristan would finish his basketball career as a leader with 1,419 points and 507 assists over four seasons. He signed his letter of intent to play at St.John’s University his senior year.  His Amityville Warriors teams were a combined 52-4 with state titles his junior and senior seasons. Not bad for a kid from Long Island.
