High School: Donovan Mitchell
Donovan Mitchell was born on September 7, 1996 in Elmsford, New York. He attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, where he earned two-time All-American honors. Mitchell was a five-star recruit who committed to play college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals.
College: Donovan
Subsequently, Donovan Mitchell played two seasons for Louisville. As a freshman, he made the All-ACC Freshman Team. In his sophomore year, Mitchell was named to the All-ACC First Team and the All-ACC Tournament Team. Additionally, he led the Cardinals to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
Professional: Mr. Mitchell
The Utah Jazz drafted Mitchell with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He quickly became a key Jazz player, averaging 20.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game as a rookie. Mitchell earned All-Rookie First Team honors.
In his second season, he averaged 22.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Mitchell made his first NBA All-Star Game appearance. He also helped the Jazz reach the Western Conference Semifinals.
In year three, Mitchell put up 24.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He made his second All-Star Game and led the Jazz to the Conference Finals.
Trade to the Cavaliers
However, on February 10, 2023, the Jazz traded Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers along with several other players in exchange for multiple Cavaliers stars.
Current Status
Presently, Mitchell starts at shooting guard for the Cavaliers. He averages 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game with efficient shooting. Mitchell is having a great individual season, but the Cavaliers struggle as a team.
