Born in California in 1972, Lisa Leslie attended Morningside High School in Inglewood. There, she starred on the basketball team, leading them to California state titles in 1989 and 1990. Leslie also earned McDonald’s All-American and Parade All-American honors.

College

Subsequently, Leslie attended the University of Southern California, playing four years for the Trojans. She started every game and led the team to four straight NCAA Tournaments. Additionally, Pac-10 Player of the Year honors went to Leslie in 1994 and 1995. In 1994, she also won the Wade Trophy for the nation’s best college player.

Professional

In 1997, the Los Angeles Sparks drafted Leslie in the first round. She played 12 seasons with the Sparks, helping them win WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002, earning Finals MVP in 2002. Current Status

Lisa Leslie is currently a studio analyst for Spectrum SportsNet and a part-owner of the Los Angeles Sparks. She is also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.  She is one of only two female head coaches of professional men’s basketball teams. In 2019, she led the Triplets to a league championship and was named Coach of the Year.

Leslie is one of the most successful and accomplished women’s basketball players of all time. She is a role model for young girls and women everywhere. She is a pioneer in the sport of women’s basketball and has helped to pave the way for future generations of female athletes.

Presently, Leslie works as a studio analyst for Spectrum SportsNet and co-owns the Sparks. She has entered the Naismith Memorial and Women’s Basketball Halls of Fame. Additionally, Lisa Leslie is the head coach of the Triplets in the BIG3 professional basketball league.  In 2019, she led them to the title and won Coach of the Year.
