High School
D’Andre Swift grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, where he shone as a football player. As a senior, Swift rushed for 1,564 yards and scored 25 touchdowns, leading his team to a state championship. He earned the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year award and ESPN ranked him as the top all-purpose running back in the country. Swift also received the 2016 Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State Player of the Year and the American Family Insurance All-USA First Team honors. Additionally, he got selected to play in the 2017 U.S. Army All-America Bowl.
College
Swift chose to attend the University of Georgia and played football there. As a freshman, he rushed for 597 yards and three touchdowns. Despite having Elijah Holyfield as a teammate, Swift displayed his talent in college football by running 618 yards and scoring seven touchdowns in his second year. Swift also became a valuable part of the Georgia passing game, catching 31 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns.
In his junior season, Swift took over as the featured running back for the Bulldogs. He rushed for 1,218 yards and nine touchdowns, and also caught 29 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns. Swift earned All-SEC First Team honors and helped lead the Bulldogs to a berth in the College Football Playoff.
College Achieve
Swift garnered two-time All-SEC selection and the SEC Freshman of the Year award in 2017. He rushed for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns in his Georgia career. Swift also caught 69 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns. He was an integral member of the Georgia Bulldogs teams that won three consecutive SEC Eastern Division titles and played in three consecutive New Year’s Six Bowl games.
NFL
The Detroit Lions drafted Swift in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He made an immediate impact, rushing for 521 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season. Swift also caught 36 passes for 357 yards and two touchdowns.
In his second season, injuries limited Swift to just eight games, but he still managed to rush for 381 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 30 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns.
In 2023, the Lions traded Swift to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles hope Swift can be a key part of their offense, along with quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown.
