Cappie Pondexter: College
After high school, she attended Rutgers University, where she continued to excel on the basketball court. Cappie Pondexter was a standout basketball player at Rutgers University, where she played for four seasons from 2003 to 2007. At Rutgers, Pondexter was named to the All-Big East First Team and helped lead the team to the NCAA Championship in 2007.
During her time at Rutgers, Pondexter was named to the All-Big East First Team twice and was also named to the All-Big East Second Team once. She was also named an Associated Press All-American twice and was named the Big East Player of the Year in 2007.
In addition to her individual accolades, Pondexter helped lead the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to the NCAA Championship in 2007. She was the team’s leading scorer and played a key role in their success. Pondexter finished her college career as Rutgers’ all-time leading scorer with 2,539 points, and she was also the school’s all-time leader in steals and free throws made.
