Ricky Rubio Vives (born October 21, 1990) is a Spanish professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a 6’2″ point guard who is known for his passing and playmaking ability.

Rubio the Pro

Rubio was born in El Masnou, Catalonia, Spain. He began playing basketball at a young age and quickly showed promise. At the age of 13, he joined Joventut Badalona, one of the top basketball clubs in Spain. Rubio played for Joventut’s youth teams for two years, and in 2005, he made his professional debut at the age of 14. He became the youngest player to ever play in the Spanish ACB League.

Professional

Ricky Rubio was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. He became the youngest player to ever play in an NBA game when he made his debut on December 26, 2011. Rubio played for the Timberwolves for six seasons, averaging 10.3 points, 7.3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game.

• In 2017, Rubio was traded to the Utah Jazz. He played for the Jazz for three seasons, averaging 11.5 points, 6.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game.
• In 2020, Rubio was traded to the Phoenix Suns. He played for the Suns for one season, averaging 13.1 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
• In 2021, Rubio was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is currently averaging 13.1 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Current status

Rubio is a starting point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is a good passer and playmaker, and he is also a good defender. Rubio is a valuable player for the Cavaliers, and he is expected to help them compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
